Such a good deal that I just ordered a few more sets...

Already replaced the 4 cockpit speakers... Had a 3rd set with intentions of expanding the cockpit. I just purchased 1 new set for me to replace the cabin speakers with my extra set...

And, I picked up 2 sets as a gift for my dad to use in his 1949 Chevy 5 window restoration process.

Had to pay sales tax... but still a very good deal at that!

Everybody should do this upgrade 'just because' it's so frigging cheap! WOW!

Wow--the price on these is amazing. I have been tempted to upgrade the Clarion speakers on my 2005 to these--but I am not sure I want the look of the modern silver grills. Has anyone used these with the white factory grills? Do the holes for the screws line up the same?

I don't believe the Clarion grills will attach to the Polk speakers. They just snap on and need the lip on the Clarion speakers.

Damn, if I didnt already have a new pair in the box in the garage, I would be all over this. That is so freaking cheap! I am very happy with them so far and I know when I add this 3rd pair to the boat, its really going to rock.

Great price , Great speakers. Someday when my 10/11 year old stock Sonys' die, I may have to get a pair of these.

And to answer firecadets' question he posted last night, and mysteriously deleted.....
Yes, there WILL be a noticable difference between the Polk's and the stock Clarion speakers with the stock HU. Almost night and day difference. The Polk's will sound much better.

Should also add that there is a tremendous improvement over just the stock Sony's as well. Our boat had the 1620's (the 'upgraded factory system') - and the Polk's are far better. Still not JL -- but JLs are what - almost 10X the price? CRAZY.

I am really torn--because everyone has raved about these speakers. I know I am probably being weird about preferring the factory grills. I just like the more classic look. Anyone ever try painting the Polk grills white? Not sure what kind of paint I would use and how it would hold up? I know--I'm thinking about this way too much!

No, Eric, you're not being weird. I've had two pairs of them for a couple months now, and haven't installed them because I'm not sure what to do about the grilles. In addition, I've got the factory upgraded system which means I have separate surface mounted tweeter housings next to each woofer. Putting a different color and style of grille next to those would just look stupid, but I can't just take them off because each one has a small hole through the panel for wire access, and screw holes.

Match the paint on the Polk grills and paint the factory tweeter housing. Even if it is only a "dummy" tweeter I agree it would look better than the holes. Or for that matter paint the Polk housings white although that probably wouldn't look good.

Yeah, I considered both options and am not sure I'd be happy with either one.

I am not a stereo guy but this deal sounds unavoidable… All I need my stereo is for listening CNBC and Race Channels (IRL and NASCAR, Yes there is a "Red Neck" blood in me  )……… Should I go for it?
