Guys...tell me what you would do and why. I have of course already installed the 4 polks to replace the factory speakers. I am trying to decide if I want to cut them into the side of the liner between the captains seat and the bench or if I want to cut them into the front of the bench seat like impulse has done in his.

I am going to put the bow speakers back on head unit power and put the amp power to the "to be installed" Polk's.

I understand wanting to get a better "sound fill" in the boat. However, those polks already there with the amps you have should be sounding really good I would think. You cut holes for more speakers and you will be giving them away when you sell/trade the boat. It seems like that's inevitable with you wanting to upgrade to a cruiser.

No doubt in that I WILL move into a cruiser. And yes...I am very happy with the Polks I have...you know, I come from car audio background like you do and like MORE! I already have the Polks....might as well put them to use.

So...being that I am hell bent on doing it...where would you put them Brent?

I'm not familiar with the 200 interior, but I would want them in the sides. Some place with a sealed off rear area (since these are not infinite baffle). Putting them in the base of the rear bench wouldn't add much for passengers sitting there.

I added a second pair right in front of the rear bench on the gunnel, so the bench riders can hear the music too.

Joe...this is where I am thinking as well. Did it make a big difference?

Oh heck yes, I can crank it up with exhaust open and hear full sound. Do it, its worth it.

+1 I followed in TxJole2's footsteps on 3rd set placement and am really please with the result. Amazing difference for those on the sunsport bench, and fills out the front of the cockpit with sound too.

BTW - those are 7" speakers, and I wouldn't go much larger.

Ok...today was an adventure at the stereo shop. I went in with the plan I had. On the advice of the installer...my way was a bad plan because he felt that these speakers would starve for power in the bow. He actually suggested adding a 4th set of Polks and wiring them in series, then parallel back at the amp (2 Channel) to get the proper ohm level and get all we could out of the amp. The owner of the shop didnt think it would work that way either and suggested a 4 channel amp for my highs (which made more sense to me).

So, at the end of the day...my boat now has 8 Polks in it. We upgraded the amp and it sounds killer! My wife...yeah, she isnt so happy because I went way over budget on it...but its going to be worth it when she hears it. We put a pair of Polk's inside the cubby on each side of the boat. One fires forward and the other to the rear. The panel inside the cubby has the ends shaped at an angle, which made it a no brainer....

Are there baffles installed on the back of the speakers?

Brent...I knew you would ask that. Lol. Nope, but I figure that it's no different than the speakers being in the bow...they don't put baffles on them either.

:D I only ask because of the open air space in the top of those inserts. Thought maybe the rear sound would come out and cancel the front.
