I want to upgrade the 4 factory speakers in the helm area of my 2001 328 Four Winns.

I can purchase 2 pairs of Polk DB651 for $67.99 US a pair or purchase two pairs of Clarion CM1625 for $69.99 a pair through Sonic Electronix.com.

What would be the better speaker? Would you suggest I look at a better speaker in the same price range or stick with one of the above two choices?

Thanks,
Mike

Don't even bother with the Crapion. Not worth $25 per pair. The Polk's or the Infinity 612M are best bang for the buck.

Polks. I have them and love them for the money.

I believe you can get the db651s (thin profile) speakers for $54 something at Amazon. You might also be able to find polk db650's around cheap. A year or so back I bought a pair new for $25.

Been doing some research on the Polk's and really like the look and have heard amazing things from all the post on here...but the wifey isn't into the grill look

Has anyone tried either Alpine and or Sony and replaced them with these Polks?

Looking at replacing all four in our 200 which I belive the db651 will be the set, right? Is this just a simple put the Clarion's and put the Polks in?

Thanks in advance for any input or feed back...

Matt

Get the polks and paint the grills.

The sony's don't stand anywhere near the polks for the bang-for-your-buck

Polk Makes Marine speakers???? Or are these for the enclosed cabin portion of your boat?

Go for the DB651 and not the DB651s slimline unless you absolutely have to. The slimline does not have the same low frequency response as the big boy!

I believe people have been putting the db651 in their 2007 200 :?:
So I plan on getting the biggest one I can…I mean I am under the feeling of, “Go Big or Go Home”, right? HA HA
The only item she will not budge on right now is an amp...so I hope the head unit can do a good job, understand that any speaker at high volume will be bad.

I think I can sway her and let her go purse shopping or something, if I can get these…

Thanks for all the input and keep it coming if I am missing something...

I got the Polks (replaced Sonys) along with a 4x100 watt amp. The amp is a Pyle marine amp, only $55.00 for a new one on ebay. It's nothing fancy and obviously wouldn't push an amp, but I think it really sounds good for the price. You can also get a Pyle installation kit for around $25 (also on ebay) that has all the marine rated wires/fasteners, with an inline fuse for the power.

Here's a Polk db650 before and after "Earl Schieb", or is that a local thing? You get the idea.

Wow...big difference when you painted the grills white! Nice job.
Did you use primer, or just spray paint the white directly on the grill w/no prep or primer?
