From what I am gathering, Guinnydog's mount probably just used screws and sealent if there is no access near there or it would be impossible to hold the bolts washers etc. In the manual of my 298 it shows the antenna located on the top of the radar arch. The antenna I have now is on the top of the radar arch but is only a 3 foot antenna, I will likely be replacing it very soon with an 6 or 8ft and will just use the same place, there is an access hatch directly below it so I am able to access all of my arch mounted antenna's. Good luck with what you decide, one suggestion, contact Shakespeare and ask them about mounting.
Thanks very much for your advice. I'm thinking the best thing to do is install an access hatch below the new antenna location (starboard side). Now all I have to do is figure out the best way to create an access hole in the fiberglass arch (that should be an adventure).
