Post subject:  Radio Problems (Need Help)

I have a 2008 H200ss with the sony headunit that has the sirus radio. Took the boat out for the first time this year and the radio seems to be in demo mode as it flashes am/fm then cd then MP3 like a demo would and I can't get it out of this mode. I pressed the source button like have have since I bought the boat new in 2008 and nothing worked. I pressed the reset button also and that didn't work. If anyone has a clue on how I can get this radio to work?

It sounds like it "thinks" that the source button is being depressed. I would try disconnecting ALL of the remotes and see if that solves the problem. If it does, connect one by one and see if it comes back. I know most boats have only one remote, but like mine, I have two. Try it & let us know!!

A couple of possibilities.

A.)
1 Press and hold the "Select" button until the setup menu appears on the display.

2 Push the "Select" button repeatedly until "Demo" appears on the display.

3 Turn the volume control dial until "Demo Off" appears on the display.

4 Press and hold the "Select" button to confirm. The stereo is now ready to operate in normal mode.
(May not work for your particular model)

B.) Do a hard reset. Unplug main power lead. Wait, and re-connect the lead, then turn on the player.

C.) The manual for your unit also describes how to turn off the demo mode. It can be downloaded off the web if you have model #

UPDATE
Ok so I disconnected the transom remote from the radio and it started working. Then I hooked the remote back up and it was still working. It stopped working when I turned my battery power switch to the off position. I have the dual battery set up. So in the mean time the short fix is not to turn all power off to the boat. I still have to trouble shoot why the transom remote will not power up at all and how to get the radio to work after I kill all power to the boat.

I think THATS good! I would just replace it. I have picked them up for under $60.00, the Sony ones with the display. The other thing you could do is use dialectic grease in the connectors. You may have had a poor contact in the connector. By pulling it apart, you got a better connection between the contacts. It's just a guess?
