Missed out on these a year or so ago when they were $53 and change for a pair. Now, most places are around $80 (Amazon $83.57) give or take. Bit the bullet and bought myself an XMAS gift of 3 sets for $68.95ea + shipping. The site has a $10 off code (TECHM8) when you spend $199 or more - which kind of negates the shipping costs. My three sets out the door were $213.06 delivered, or $71.02 each set. Wrestled between the Polk's and these for quite a while, but chose these when I just couldn't find a bad thing said about them.

Ho Ho Ho

How do these compare to the Pold DB651? I need to get one more pair of the DB651s to swap all the speakers on my boat.

It's all a matter of preference, but since I have compared both the Polk's and the Infinity's side by side, I think the Infinity's are slightly better overall in sound quality. I installed a set of 612m's in my boat and really like them.

I have the Polks and my buddy has the Infinitys. They are both great speakers--I think you would be happy with either. The blue cones on the Infinitys will look great in your blue boat. Enjoy!

Polk or Infinity speakers both need an amp to drive them. If you run either on just the head unit, they will sound distorted, flat, and the bass will sound like a blown speaker from the 1980s.

If they are driven by at least 50w per speaker.. They sound like you installed a concert hall in your boat. My 651's sounded worse then the cheap 10yo sony's i took out before I installed a JBL marine amp. (MA6002). The amp is under $100 shipped and runs fine on a 10A fuse right off the fuse block under the dash, no fancy wiring needed. I used the windshield wiper circuit since my boat doesn't have em installed.

I was not excited over the look of the DB651's... but they sure sound better then the sony crap that was in my boat.
I'm thinking about adding 2 more and an amp.

So what is it, are the DB651's better or worse than the Sony's ?

Worse without an amp, wayyyyyyyyyyyy better with an amp. A radio alone doesn't put out enough power to drive them correctly. Underpowered speakers sound like dog doo doo.
