Been eyeballing this for a while now ever since it was plastered across the Internet in January. First it was supposed to be released in Spring, then Fall 2011. Damn Google. . . . Stalker. Nope, going to replace the regular 12V DVD player in the boat. I haven't purchased a DVD in years. Everything is Blu-ray now. Over the Air TV signals suck on the lake. So we watch a bunch of movies. It would be nice to watch our Blu-ray library on the boat at night on batteries. I'm sure this will inspire me to upgrade everything to HD eventually.

For HD movies we carry a small netbook computer on board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834230116 I rip the blu-ray movies to the hard drive and then play them back using a 22" TV as a monitor to the netbook. Whats great about this is there no more disc to carry, drop, and it saves space. The collection stays home. With a hot spot, we can watch netflex, and surf the web if we want. The problem with the hot spot is that it is cellular, so we can't go to far offshore with it. |

I've been following this Audiovox unit for a while for the very same reasons. Always hate that we can't watch the blu ray movies we get from Netflix on the boat. One other option is to get a regular 12v DVD player with a USB port that can play AVI/Divix files. With the right software (available for free), you can then rip your movies to a flash drive and watch them. If Audiovox doesn't get their sh** together before Spring, that's the route I'm going. |

Flash drives are great in them selfs, but you may want to use a USB 2.5" drive. Movies take up a lot of space & hard drives are bigger & cheap per gig. |
