Post subject:  214 funship stereo

I recently bought a 03 funship, and the previous owner told me as of last week the stereo faceplate went swimming while boarding the boat. The boat has a wired Sony controller by the steering wheel, and I would like to keep this feature with my new cd player. Do I have to stick with a Sony unit or do many makers have the connection for this on the stereo?

Thanks

If you have an Ipod and don't care about CD's..... go with the Sony DSX-MS60, the IPod goes inside the radio!

If you still like those round silver things.... CDX-M20

Do you know which Sony unit is currently in your boat? You'll also want to know which remotes you have installed. When I replaced my stereo, my older remotes didn't work well with the newer unit even though I stuck with Sony.

I'm not sure which sony is installed now. Since the faceplate was lost, is there anyway of knowing? Is there a model number on the unit if I pull it out of the boat? I can still use the stereo with my driver controls, I just have to rig the radio so that the faceplate button is depressed. I was hoping the wired controller hook up was kind of universal with sony, but I'm guessing its not?
