So I did a trial run on Saturday. The lake was like glass, I was able to run at 4000 RPM for most of the way. I have the GPS tracks saved for use. July 1st isn't too far away :)

I don't think they have any docking at the bluffs I was there a few weeks a go we wanted to stop for lunch but we were told docking is for members only. Which we found weird seeing the have 2 large restraunts there

^^ There is transient docking
http://www.bluffsparkmarina.com/dockage.html

If you are out on the water, there is a seperate entrance for the public boat launch, and the marina itslef.

Personally, I would not even consider this trip at night. I go out every July 4th to watch the fireworks off our local beach. From the launch ramp to LI Sound takes about 5 min.......I anchor just to the west of the marina channel to watch the fireworks...once they're over it is a mad rush and general pandemonium to get back to the marina and the dock to haul out the boat. We usually wait until several boats leave the area before we head back in...and we are REAL close to the channel markers and the marina entrance but it still gets disorienting to navigate at night for me! Plus I only have 1 or 2 beers and stop by 8pm!! I use a spot light that someone (Admiral) or my buddy holds to locate the bouy markers of the channel. My .02...I just do not enjoy boating in the dark......

I've been to both the public one is always fun to watch. So when you enter the marina is the transient docking on the north side or the south side by the house boats? I talked to a few people there and they said there was no transient docking guess the dont like outsiders?

If needed, you do have a VHF? Watch the waves in the moon light, or any light. If the is anything in the water, you will see it as the light bounces off the waves.

What an experience! The fireworks from the water were awesome, and the water was almost glass. The moon was out, so the return trip was simply a matter of following the GPS tracks, and watching the water for floating debris.

Forgive the commentary, it was the first time for my 6 year old
