Hi All
I've just received delivery of a new Camper Canvas for my 98 Vista, Four Winns have sent a box of new Snap fasteners which I have to fix to the canvas myself. Does anyone know whether the crop a dile
tool is any good for this job as I am struggling to find anything else
here in the UK.

I had to install the snaps on the camper canvas for my 318, I bought a pro-grade tool called a Press-N-Snap (do a google search of "press n snap tool")...it was fairly expensive (I searched around on line an ended up paying about $100 US). I used it with a leather hole punch where I would punch the hole in the canvas then attach the snaps...not really sure if I needed to punch the holes or not but I thought it was best to do it that way. I have used the tool many times since then on our cavas and a few friends whenever a snap has pulled out...does the job just like the factory.

When you search you will see a few other less costly solutions that look like standard vice-grips or are attachments for vice grips...I did not see the tool you mention. Good luck and make sure that you pull the canvas as tight as you can as you install it, ours was very tight as I was trying to get the last few snaps on.

And you're best served putting the snaps on when the canvas has been warmed in the sun for a while. Cold canvas shrinks and will end up being too loose once it's warmed in the sun. Granted, warm sunny days might be a bit of a rare quantity this time of year in the UK...
