Bowrider, H240:
I bought a cheap 700 watt microwave for $25 (after rebate, from Brandsmart USA). Runs off my 1000 watt inverter from Overtons. I haven't decided if I will mount it anywhere or just carry it loose.

I honestly can't think of any reason to have one on the boat. Maybe if you lived aboard and wanted to zap some Hungry Man dinners. I heat water with a 12v water boiler that truck drivers use ($15), that works amazing. If you want popcorn, stovetop popcorn is still easy found just throw it on the grill. I carry a few.

I have a 1000w pure sine on 240 amp hours worth of batteries for the A/C, i could run practically anything if needed.

My kids like hot chocolate after boating in the evenings. I have a pure sine 1000W Zantrex inverter mounted, I think I will pick up an 800W Walmart (shudder) microwave and just keep it onboard for those occassions

Read the specs on the 700 watt microwave. The 700 watts is its output, not what it is pulling. I am sure its in the 900 watt range, which is a lot od D.C. power. At 900 watts a group 24 battery is likely to run for 5 min. or less. Your cables at 5 feet (battery to inverter) will be in the 1 gauge range too. You must do the math and fuse this right at the battery.
