This last weekend was the Gasparilla Invasion of Tampa Bay. We celebrate the capture of Tampa by the Pirate Jose Gaspar. There is a big on the water party and boat flotilla. Here are some of the pics of the celebration. I would have more as the party and flotilla continued and got bigger and bigger but the battery on the camera was running out. I've created two MOV files. One I hope I filtered out any nudity and the other is all the pics unedited. I hope no one is offended. Next year should be even better as the Super Bowl will be in Tampa and the Gasparilla Pirate Invasion and celebration will be the same weekend. Can we say wild! For everyone suffering through the crazy weather up north, some of us have it pretty easy this time of year

The links don't seem to want to work on my computer! I hope you had a good weekend. My Boss has a condo in St. Petersburgh Beach (near Indian Rock?) he lives by some college campus named after a pharmaceutical company just before you pay a toll to get on the beach side. I have been down there many times but have never had an opportunity to boat in the area. We usually hang out at Jimmy B's or there's a hotel further up North that has live entertainment and a dock system on the gulf side. We were there (at the hotel outdoor bar) a couple of years ago on a Mother's day Sunday and it was wild! I can't imagine a warmer day with a special occasion like this.

Unfortunately, I have not discovered any true "party" areas in the greater Thousands Islands Area. I will make that my goal this year.

That looks like my kinda party. I have heard from friends, that it is quite crazy with all the boats around. I think it would be fun.

Thanks for the links JV.

It is a wild time. The trick is to keep in front of the pirate ship and get rafted up in a spot before it arrives at the convention center to capture and tie up the Mayor.

I was very pleased with the behaviors of everyone. Although the alcohol and fun was freely flowing, U had people very politely ask to cross over my platform when moving around on the raft-up. Also, those that asked for the use of the head were very polite and respectful. There was only one jerk initially that didn't want any other rows of boats. Evidently it was his first time. The rows get about 3 - 4 deep. He was firmly but politely told to stuff a sock in it. We were at the end of the raft-up for a bit nd had several boats tie up temporarily. All had fenders in place and not a new scratch on the boat. I was quite pleased.
