I have a 2008 f224 5.0 GXI. I never had any fluid issues with the boat. I noticed at the end of last season that I had to add gear lube to the reservoir. This year I had to add gear lube many times (maybe about 1 qt and a half). I do not see any leaks or issues. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I would suggest a pressure test on your lower unit. If you have a leak, the pressure test should be able to detect it.
Just a thought.

You're not seeing any slicks in the water, or puddles under the drive when sitting out of the water?

Do a vaccum and pressure test. That will show the leaky seal and then you need to get it repaired. Is your gear oil milky? Make sure the hose for the remote reservoir is not leaking in the bilge.

That oil is going somewhere, so you definitely have a leak.

Also, when you have a leak, often you leak oil out and water back in. As the drive warms, fluid is pushed out, and as it cools, water is sucked in. (resulting in milky oil as LouC said.). It's possible that the oil does not look milky at the upper gear housing, but the lower gear housing will be milky or worse. Take a sample from the bottom drain and see. Need to get it fixed ASAP.
