It looks like your research and patience paid off with a nice boat, that you seem to be very happy with. Will you bring the boat home to NY from Florida via the ICW in spring then ? That would be a great trip to make.

Congratulations Sierra!

That is one fine piece of machinery. I would be ecstatic to have that much space in my cockpit. We spend so much time in the cockpit that space is a number one concern. You have certainly achieved that criteria with this boat.

Best regards to you and your family as you enjoy your new adventures.

That's the working plan. I also hope to perhaps make a Bahamas hop over the winter.

And thank you Marc. I can honestly say this boat fulfilled my entire wish list. OK, the hydraulic swim platform aside (can't be greedy - and that can always be added).
And now that I've learned I can cruise all day at 32 mph and burn less fuel than I would at 25 mph, I'm even more excited to open her up when I'm out there!

Sierra - that sounds like one heck of a trip...something I would LOVE to do some day. Living in Texas....wont happen. I salute you on your new boat...she is gorgeous.

Curious question...when you buy a boat of that caliber, how long does the sales/delivery staff train you on the boat and its systems when you take delivery? Is it a day process, 3 day process etc??? I know you are not new to owning a large boat, so you are more experienced than many (me), but still there must be a tremendous amount to learn when taking on a new craft like that.

There is a whole lot to learn. For starters, it's my first diesel boat and, while I have been reading voraciously about diesels over the past few months, there are many fundamental things that are done differently with your engine checks, starting and shutdown procedures, etc. But what you find is that all of the other systems are essentially the same as a smaller boat - there are just many more of them.

I had become familiar with the boat's basic operation through my sea trials. My actual delivery day was fairly overwhelming, as you might imagine, so I wanted to save systems review for a subsequent day. On delivery day I moved the boat with a captain the relatively short distance from the dealership to her winter home. I fired off a lot of questions, but had the cap return two days later when we spent hours going though systems and procedures and then got out on the water for several hours to not only learn, but really put the boat through its paces. By the next day I was taking the boat out without the captain.

What's terrific is that I will have a dealer-provided captain available to me anytime I'm at the boat this winter and they're also scheduling a Cummins tech to come and spend a few hours really going though the engine/drive systems with me - it's a great service they provide. The dealership also provides a captain for as much of the delivery up north that I wish so that will certainly be a great additional learning opportunity after I've become much more intimately familiar with the boat.

Thanks! I do drop by from time to time to check on everyone and to see if there's any help I can offer.
As for what's next, I'm not quite there yet. I'm focusing on the 53 to 58 foot range at the moment and there are a lot of choices. I really enjoyed my 441 and would buy it again tomorrow if I was looking in that range. But I still show off pictures of my V358 - it will always remain one of my favorite boats no matter where this insane obsession takes me.
