Safety lanyards; after a tragic RIB multiple fatality and maiming accident in the UK last Summer, not using the lanyard was deemed to be a major contributory cause.
There are double standards at play in the industry though.
FW278s fitted with gasoline engines have them. Quite rightly so.
FW278s with the D4 300 HP, probably almost as fast as the 8.1 gas versions do not ! It probably costs more to fit a safety lanyard to a diesel. So, it seems at least FW thought the cost of a safety lanyard system was not worth it. The throttle lever on that diesel one ( mine !) is in my opinion very dangerous indeed : little or no friction, no detent lever to stop it being accidentally put into gear, then no friction to prevent WOT being selected. A potentially lethal setup.
Also, FW do not seem to have, or at least share with their dealers, wiring schematics for 2008 onwards 278 Vistas................and they seem to have made some very strange wiring modifications to them !
To be honest, the ownership experience with this D4 EVC engined 278 Vista I have has been a nightmare. I wish I still had my 2004 245 Sundowner. I'll elaborate when it is ( or is not !) sorted out.
