Fortunately, it was the exhaust manifold and not the engine.
However, I would still be concerned that the casting may have cracked inside, which may be leaking water down onto your exhaust valves.
Of course you could remove and inspect and pressure check, etc, but your manifold is 8 years old (and you only have one), so you could buy a replacement for around $200 and not worry about it (or Manifold + Elbow for ~ $350).
Until you can inspect the inside of the manifold, or replace it, I would drain the manifold right after each use.
