What does Dad want to do on Father's Day? Hang out on the lake of course! Here's a few pics of how the day went.

On the way to the marina we picked up some breakfast and coffee to eat at the boat. We had a quick scare once we arrived at the boat, it seemed that the bilge had been pumping, and the float switch had stuck in the on position. I don't suspect it had been running for very long though as the battery was still plenty enough alive to start the boat. I pulled the doghouse and free'd the sticky float switch, then we were ready to go.

Your's truly, on our way out of the marina

At the east end of the lake, near our favorite hangout, there is another boat ramp with washroom facilities. The admiral was due for a pit stop after an extra large coffee, so time to take another pic of the boat!
Image

Heading to the island now, a quick shot at the helm. You'll notice my Richie compass in place where the depth gauge would sit, and my trim gauge, which is out of adjustment since the drive change.
Image

We found our island hangout completely deserted. This beach is usually full of boats on the weekend!

The boys had a hoot catching minnows in a bucket. There was quite a school of them hanging around the beach.

My catalog pic, inspired by 230 mike's great shot in the "boats at rest" thread

All in all, a great day on the water

With 3 days of rain in the forecast, I decided to pull the boat that evening so that I could tend to the float switch and trim gauge. better safe then sorry me thinks!

Great pics!! And nice Kansas City shirt...

I only have one problem with this. People in freakin' CANADA are boating, and I still haven't...

Those are some lovely pictures. Was the water not cold?
I hope you get lots of use out of your boat and that new outdrive!

Thanks guys

Mike, you've gotta get out there bud! Good call on the Kansas City shirt.... oddly enough, I bought it in Toronto at Old Navy  and it was made in Guatemala. Globalization at its finest it tell ya.

MNG, the water was a bit cool at 69 degrees(f) but not too bad. We are getting some decent use... this is our 5th time out (Sorry Mike).

Didn't make it out on Sunday but we finally got the boat wet on Saturday. The kids were happy to be out again as was I. It started out crazy windy but then about 3:00 a front moved through and the wind died off completely. It was near perfect conditions.

If you look close in the pics you can see the brownish water we've got now in Iowa. Flooding has messed up a lot of lakes around here. It's usually a lot cleaner than this.

My boy had no problem jumping back in the captains seat with me.

For anyone curious this is the same cove as the first pic from last year.
