Leaving in a little over a week for 5 days on Grand Lake. Meeting the family there and have a lake house in Shangri La Estates. Does anybody know the area or the lake. Any must do's or must avoids either on lake or land. More importantly any parts of the lake I should flat avoid. As always any advice would be great.

Haven't been there since I was a kid and it was virtually no development around it. If you don't get any responses here, you might post this on boatingabc.com. There's a couple of Grand guys over there.

When you get back I'd love to hear some info on it. It'd be a long trip for us, but I've thought about it.

MUST DO: Dripping Springs (cove) Lots of eye candy.

The lake can get really rough out in the open water. My 24' Baja was almost swamped on 4th of July.

STAY OFF THE LAKE AT NIGHT.

What part of the lake is dripping springs cove (obviously I'll take my father and brother by ourselves for a little tour)

What's the deal at night?

Dripping is on the south shoreline just a few miles east of the pensacola dam.

You will also want to take the family up Duck Creek. That's where the "beautiful people" have huge houses, & marinas.

You will often see a pack of go-fast boats making midnight runs across the lake. Not something to get in the way of. There are also a few small islands that have tiny markers on them not visible after sunset.

Pick up a lake map when you get there or download from the web. Shangri La is several miles NE of these two area mentioned and it's a pretty area too.
