Just a thought, but was there a second wire off off the battery that powered the helm? Did you get all the wires when you hooked the battery back up?

I'm pretty sure there is only the one power wire to the battery. Will check though when I get back out there. Good thought though.

Should be three cables from the battery. Main power to the engine (starting), as well as one for the auto bilge pump and Helm Power. The helm cable is fairly large, so hope you wouldn't miss it. Just for giggles, check your polarity too. Is the trim running "UP" when you push the "UP" button? Unlikely, but a posibility.

Good Luck!

Man, if I was at home I would take a pic for you. I am sure its your "helm power" breaker...somewhere in this mix.

OK got an update and problem solved. Cougarcruiser wins the prize. How stupid of me. There was another power wire that I didn't have hooked to the battery. It managed to fall down in a spot where I couldn't see. Took my battery out a few months ago and didn't remember the extra power wire. Thanks for all the help guys. I love this site!!

Yeah...didnt think about the actual helm power wire being off. My boat has a wire that goes from the battery to the helm power circuit breaker and from there, out to the helm.

For future reference the helm circuit breaker is on the panel marked "Helm Power" to the left in the pic below(starboard side of boat) near the battery access.

The wire that was reconnected to solve the issue above runs directly to the back of this panel. If you ever add a second battery, this circuit could be considered the 'house' circuit, and the other red wire leading back to the starter would be the 'starting' circuit.
