Coug, I'm not real impressed by the stock sony 1620s. All of mine are deteriorated... I guess from sitting in Florida for a year. The 318 near me also has a few that the surrounds are deteriorated. They have a 2.5" depth. I've always had good luck with Kicker on the car audio end. I'm going to see if I can pay the difference to have them go in if they fit. They have a 2 7/8" depth.

I was actually kicking around putting in an 8 Track player, I love the way the song fades..out..and..then...KA-CHUNK...song fades back up. Besides if they ever come out with digital 8 Track I'll be set!
