Put out the flag before I left the house this morning. I can't believe it's been 8 years.

Thanks, Brent.

I participated in a nationwide effort by hobbyist woodworkers to build flag cases for the families of the victims. The two I built went to the families of Steven Goldstein, an IT analyst for Cantor Fitzgerald, and Denis Lavelle, an accountant for Marsh & McLennan.

Never forget.

Thanks, it was humbling, sad, and gratifying all at once. I wish I'd had time to build several more.

They were red oak with mahogany splines.

Very nice craftsmanship and wonderful thing to do.

I agree, never forget.

I used to fly my flag from Memorial Day to Labor Day but for the past 7 years it stays up until September 12th, then I give it a rest and fly my college football flag till January.

Yes, it is hard to believe its been 8 years. I will never forget it. I actually flew into JFK airport that morning to catch my connecting flight on American Airlines to Vancouver BC on a 757. First plane hit before we taxied out. As we taxied for takeoff the second plane hit and was visible from the runway. At that point all planes went back to the terminal and once all the bags were off the planes they threw everyone out of the airport and locked it down. I was fortunate, everything worked out for me on that day and I went back home after the bridges/ferries reopened.

Very sad day.

My wife and I went to the top of WTC three days before the attack, she collects teapots from wherever we travel to, and bought a "Big apple" shaped one from the gift shop up there. We flew back from O'hare airport to the UK on a United flight the day before the attack. Whenever I look at her teapot collection that is the one that brings back the most memories.
