Hello Everyone,

We're new to the Four Winns brand. Back in January-February we moved up to a 2006 278 Vista from a Triumph Bay Boat. Quite an adjustment. Just want to thank everyone for having having helped me out already with some minor issues.

We've already cruised down the ICW to the Keys a few times and have learned to stay in the channels. (unfortunately the hard way)

One issue left to deal with is the acculift engine hatch actuator. For the second time the motor has burned out. The original owner has had to change it, and now it needs to be changed again. 18 months seems to be the limit in this case, and the motor is not available seperately. I've thought about changing it to gas shocks. Anyone has any ideas.

Thanks all

The motor on mine (2004) always seems to struggle a bit, but has never burned out. There is a zerk fitting which on my Sundowner, probably also on your boat, is underneath, so you don't see it! It greases the worm/ gear.

Also, the alignment of the lower and upper mounting points is not that wonderful, which puts strain on the lifter. I remove the unit each winter and pump some grease in and run the actuator up and down .The lifter certainly works better at the start of the season than at the end, which tends to indicate it needs greasing a lot more often than once per year.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I've had the whole unit out, there just seems to be a lot of corrosion on the outside of the motor and the fitting. Maybe it is time to assume the corrosion is also inside the actuator. Salt water kills pretty good down here. I'll replace the fitting first and try to grease it again.
