Holiday Inn in Spring Lake has indoor and outdoor pool. Your right in the mix of everything for Grand Haven. Bring your bikes and you can explore for miles on improved bike trails or take the trolley into town. Your 30 minutes max to Michigan Adventure. You can pick a different beach for each morning and night.

Stephanie, the sales manager, is a good friend of mine. Tell her Dave from Citizens Bank told you to call her.

Thanks for the info Dave, I have 2 nights reserved at the Holiday Inn in Spring Lake. They have some pretty good specials going on now.

Depending on which way we're going to head and the distance will decide our next stop.

We just got back this evening and should have some excellent pictures in the next couple of days in between trips.

I guess there's a reason it's named Lake Michigan and not Lake Wisconsin, Michigan definitely got the better end of the deal on that end. We spent time in St. Joseph, Saugatuck, Grand Haven, and Muskegon over the past four days and had an absolute blast.

Sunday the lake was rough enough for the kite surfers to come out and also some regular surfers. Something I have rarely seen on this side of the lake. We brought out the boogie board and gave it a try too.

The location where we stayed in Grand Haven was excellent to walk the boardwalk and see the boats come by, also visited some excellent restaurants along the way. The constant boat traffic was cool to witness.

We also took a drive to Muskegon for go-karts and to check out the beach (can never get enough of the beaches) and saw the Coast Guard ship and submarine, but got there too late for the tour. Also saw the Lake Express heading back towards home and go off into the distance.

It was great to see some lakeside communities make the most of being on Lake Michigan as opposed to some of the other half-baked attempts that I've grown up with. Hats off to Western Michigan and their boating community, we'll be back

Now you know why we love it over here so much. I just do not get tired of it.

On another note to St. Louis Dave. Does your kid's life jacket have a head float? I was pulled over in GH earlier this year on a buddies boat and the Sheriff said Michigan law is that any child 6 and under needs to have a life jacket with a head float on the back. Just passing info along.

WD- Which one? I think he has 3 or 4 that he wears when on the boat. I know 3 of the 4 have the head float. Of course the one that William likes the best doesn't. Go figure.

Robbo, Glad you liked our side fo the lake. You can see why we are always raving about it. Glad you liked Grand Haven/Spring Lake. Some times we take it for granted we have it so good. I was out with the bank staff last night and didn't want to fight the 4-6 footers so we just cruised Spring Lake looking at houses. Not a bad way to spend the evening on the water.

Wait till you come next year with your boat!
