Thought of the same choices but with older boats, different styles (my old 88 FW 200, vs a 1989 SteigerCraft Block Island 23 footer with a Volvo 290). I loved the SteigerCraft but its too big to keep in my driveway so I'd have to store it somewhere during the winter season, marinas here charge about $40 a foot. Plus I was not sure how easy it would be to get service on the old style Volvo drive. So for now I am sticking with the 200, but I drive past the boatyard with the SteigerCraft every day and that boat has classic timeless looks that will never go out of style. Keeping the old 200 does have its advantages, but I am getting to the point where I feel that continuing to put money into it does not really make sense (really has not been bad mechanically but it needed a stringer repair and deck replacement, done in 2006-7, now needs to be painted, the red gelcoat looks awful). Meanwhile the SteigerCraft is a white boat, high quality gelcoat, looks to be about 5 years old at most. Solid as a brick house too. Definitely not just a lake boat like my 200....Plus, it has a brand new crate 350, closed cooling, but needs a throttle control/cables and the tilt mechanism on the drive needs work....choices, choices.....
I did look at the new FWs at the boat show, beautiful, but a lot of wasted space, difficult engine access, cat converter equipped I/Os....waiting for OBs on bigger FWs.....I think they are coming though.....
