A good 12v blender?

I'm getting really tired of beer. There's quite a few 12v blenders out there but reviews are hard to find. Does anyone have any input on what out there can make a mean margarita on a cigarette lighter plug?

I used one from Cabela's for a few years. It goes Batt, and recharges either car or wall. It's about 3 years old, and doesn't look like it's gonna work this season.

As I was giving up, I found Walmart has pre-made alcohol drinks that are akin to "Adult Capri-Sun". Freeze, then I just tear enough of the pouch open to insert a straw..... no mess, cups, etc. They are about $2.00 ea w/ Margarita, Strawberry Daquiri, and about 5 other flavors. We haven't found one we don't like yet, but we keep trying!

How about this,,just buy one of those inverters that plugs into the cigarette lighter and bring the "good" blender from home,,,problem solved.

They are called "alcohol drinks" but the alcohol is WINE not liquor in many of the cheap ones. Those suk.

This is one of the times you can avoid the "marine" stuff...swing by a local (large) truck stop and check out their offerings...I am betting you can find what you need.

I received a GSI Vortex hand crank blender as a gift some years ago. It has suited our needs just fine and is compact enough it stays on the boat.

Or try some of the RV places...
We had an '85 London Aire motorhome that had a blender mounted into the counter top. It sat flush with the top and you just set the pitcher down into it. Really neat setup.

I will say right now that would be a VERY BAD "Walt's Mod's". I can see so many way that it could go terribly wrong. Drink spillage, missing fingers, and everything in between. I'll have to put some thought into that one and get back to ya next year.... if I can still type with severed fingers!

It used a standard-type blender pitcher with the blades inside of the pitcher. The base only had the rotating part. Think of it like the motor base being mounted so that the top was set flush with a counter top.

A couple of years ago I shopped around and got a cig lighter blender that was rated the highest on the internet (about $75). The first one lasted an hour, although the daquiries were great, and the company stood behind the warranty and sent me a new one. The second one didn't last even that long before the motor blew like the first. Company sent my money back and said I was using "too" much ice. Anyway, I just hooked up an inverter in the engine compartment and wired it through the hull into the plastic mini trash can next to the sink with an on off switch. The blender plug goes through the hole in the counter top and plugs into a receptacle wired into the bottom of the container. It was christened last week and worked flawlessly with a high powered blender that never said "no" to too much ice! Anyway, I'm going back out next weekend and will take pics if you need some ideas. One of the best mods I've enjoyed......total time of install less than 2 hours (and I'm slow!!!).

Bear in mind using an inverter will put added drain on the batteries. That and be sure to use properly sized wire to support the load being pulled through it. Running a blender takes a lot of power. You'd likely have to add another battery to support the drain if you plan on using it more than once per trip.

No 12v blender I've ever heard of is worth the bother. They just don't have enough power to grind up ice.

Not sure I'd go with a tailgator (we had one at the beach house) because of the hassles putting gas into it. It's basically a two-cycle weedwhacker engine, so it requires a gas/oil mixture. Pouring gas while out on a boat is never a good idea, even less when there's alcohol involved.

As a side note, when I went to fire up the genset this past weekend (to run the blender, of course) it wasn't pumping water. Took me all of 15 minutes to swap in a new impeller. Thus far I get around two seasons out of them. Thankfully I always keep a spare on board.
