I am thinking of selling our 2009 SL242 and getting a bigger boat. I was wondering if the NADA of boats is accurate or if it is way out of line. Has anyone had any success with the values listed?

My experience is that it can give you a good starting point to determine value. It certainly is not the be all and end all. There are a lot of factors that play into value. Region, condition, etc. NADA gives you a price based on normal wear and tear. Despite the fact that there are many of us on this forum that take good care of their boats and pride ourselves on them looking like new--the average person is probably pretty rough on a boat. Therefore a NADA average value is not going to account for a really well kept boat.

Anyway--bottom line--NADA gets you started, then you can probably surf the net and find some comparables and come up with a fair price.

Best thing I think you can do is go look at many comparable boats in your local area, research NADA, local dealers, internet, ect....

We sold our last boat for quite a bit over NADA. High book was $17,500, we accepted an offer of $23,500. Also, I was in no hurry to sell, could wait for that right buyer.

Good luck

Yes, what part of the country has a lot to do with it. Here in Boston, a bow rider would go for less than a cuddie if all things were equal.

Woman are funny like that. My wife always did like boating. Now she loves it, the new boat has hot water and a head she can stand up in. Thats all it took, us, we want that new sound system, GPS, VHF, rod holders..........

I was way below NADA on my 2008 H220SS about ten grand or more less than what the NADA said my boat was worth at least in my zip code I did purchase the boat in North Carolina which now that I think about it I didn't do the NADA with the zip code I purchased the boat in. I paid 800 to ship the boat to me in Miami and I was quite pleased to see how beautiful she was upon arrival. 8)
