Where in Georgian Bay do you boat? Those pics are awesome. Hope to make it up there in the next couple of years for a few weeks vacation!

Usually from Britt, north up to Killarney. These were taken in Black Bay, just north of Britt.

Thats different!

How are they able to block it up there?

That is typically how we store our boats up here in covered slips. It helps having the weight on the covered slips over the long winter so they don't heave. It is fun watching them get them up there. Up here when you have a covered slip they charge you for the year so you can store your boat in it over the winter.

You'll notice the steel rails in the ceiling. I've not actually witnessed the boats being lifted but I understand they use those rails to support the slings when raising the boat. The boat stays nice and dry up there....no snow builds up but obviously a little dusty by spingtime. I'd like to find a custom winter cover but no luck so far (seems 26 feet is the limit for some reason).

planealtrenative,

That's a nice spot you found for anchorage. We have boated up into the North Channel (Georgian Bay, Ontario) a couple of times. Beautiful area to boat.

We had seven boats from our marina raft off together in the Benjamins Islands for a couple days and that was really fun. The rocks and shoreline in the Benjamins look somewhat similar to the pics of your anchorage.

I love this thread, so here are a few pics from this summer.

On Lake Michigan just south of Holland.

On Gun Lake anchored up with the in-laws and some friends.

At South Haven Municipal Marina. First overnight trip on the boat. There were 3 boats in the group, all leaving from Holland (about 27 miles one-way).

Lake Michigan at Grand Haven State Park Beach during Coast Guard Festival. It was the first time I have ever been able to raft up on the Big Lake. It was calm as can be.
