Anyone pick up anything? West marine has 10% off. I need a second anchor since I don't beach my boat. Do you guys think I could get by with a 8 lb with 100 ft rode/line? This would be just to secure the boat in the shallows.

I have a fortress anchor for that it works awesome in the sand.

Here in FL all we have is sand. Fortress anchor works perfect.

West Marine is really expensive. Even 10% off, they are still more expensive then most outlets.

As far as beaching goes, why not? If you're worried about gettin that purdy gelcoat scratched, they sell plastic guards that protect the keel that stick on with 3M tape in all colors.

Needless to say, there won't be any shopping riots or pepper spraying incidents there. However, if I could find a pair of these for 40% or 50% off, I just might join the crowd.

West Marine's 10% off is still high. We call them "Neiman Marcus" of boating.

YES, I have Fortress anchor too, the FX-11 on a V258. Its light, but the holding power is of in anchor the next size bigger. I was SURPRISED, it held for 1hr. (until I pulled it up) in 43 feet of water with 225 feet of rode with 3' waves & 15mph winds.
