Not a fan of winter or snow any more, other than got to have snow for water to fill the lakes for boating.
Here is a video of our storm yesterday, the video captured the start of the snow storm... The street is up on the hill, kinda steep. This road is only a few miles from my house.
Video made me laugh, but only because I was at home on the net, vs out driving....

So much for the presumption that only Southerners drive like that (ice will do that to you). Talk about a front row seat. Great video.

Hey, isn't bountiful the home of polygamy? :D Snow storms are always fun, I can sit back and watch the unprepared people. Happens all the time in Toronto. We have two AWD vehicles and always swap on winter tires, so I get a blast out of seeing people who refuse to prepare for winter until a storm hits and they get owned.

At least those guys in your video handled it relatively well

Ha Ha Ha.....

You have been watching A&E's Sister Wives?? HBO's Big Love?? Yes its true there are polygs around here, but nothing like every one thinks.

Funny whenever I travel and say where I am from (Utah) EVERYONE thinks polygamy.....

I watched again today, just for laughs  The video really doesn't show the incline of the hill, at the top of the road, really out of sight of the video, it has to be over a 12% grade then I am guessing where most of the video was is 8% grade. Good grade when iced!

All of my vehicles, the 2 Jeeps and the 98 Subaru, run on studded snows each winter. Even though we don't get tons of snow, we do get some every year and have icing because we are on the coast. My neighbors, look at the studs like they are something they have never seen before (and they have lived in NY all their lives), think its overkill till the first bad day then they want me to drive their kids to school because they are too chicken to drive up and down the hills in the snow.
I feel that all season tires are a bad compromise for winter driving, all the cars in that vid, had ABS brakes (except the speeding old Dodge Dakota, that managed to miss all the crashing cars) but they were all rendered helpless because their owners are either too ignorant to put on snow tires or too cheap.
Safety lessons learned driving in upstate NY many years ago....learned on rear drive, no ABS. Studded snows and 4 sandbags in the trunk, LOL.
In Quebec, all of Scandinavia and in Germany, winter tires are required. Now I am not in favor of even more government interference, but this makes sense, at least.
How much is your life worth.....

The video made our local news today up here in Syracuse, NY. The irony is that we win the Golden Snowball award every year as the snowiest large city in the US so this amount of snow generally does not phase us much...but for some reason everyone seems to love this video!
