So another guy on my lake challenged me to a race yesterday. He has a 1994 176 regal valanti with a mercruiser 3.0 and 17 pitch prop. I have the Volvo Penta 3.0 with 21 pitch solas prop (factory size). Our gearing I'm sure is different so prop size is of no importance.

The Regal valanti 176 is a substantially smaller boat compared to the H180 so he has the weight advantage, I figured I was in for a beating but I couldn't back down from a challenge.

We raced twice, same outcome each. Just us in the boat, both about 1/2 tank of gas. I didn't get video (I should have). Both races from a dead stop and the H180 instantly gets 3-5 boat lengths on the punch and keeps pulling away. After about a half mile there was a 10 boat length distance between us.

Go Four Winns!!

I raced this boat last year not a pretty sight had him to about 30mph then it was over. Definitely a good time to see how long you can stay with it 8)

LMAO!! That is awesome I tought I was the only one trying to pick fights I knew I couldn't win. Image The yellow one has a supercharged stroked out engine that is a menace down in the keys. I was better off putting my SS in reverse than trying to race that joker! It was fun none the less and we raced for rum runners and he definitely had a couple on me.

I will have to say...you were complaining about the "old timers" wanting to make additional no wake zones due to errosion etc....racing isnt helping your case.
