Just wondering what everyones favorite kind of anchor is. I lost mine this weekend, it was the original danforth style in my h-190. Not sure if there is anything better to try out. Thinking about trying a chene......

I have an h200 and just use a mushroom anchor... 18 lbs... high winds can drag it, but 95% of the time its fine if you let out enough rope to get a good angle... much easier than a danforth cause you just toss it over... lol...

Still more than happy with my Danforth. Have used one on 4 boats now, and never let me down. I have heard these type anchors are good in shallow water for a second anchor at the stern if you use one.

Here on Georgian Bay, which can have quite a fair variety of bottom conditions, most people who spend a lot of time anchoring out over weekends swear by the Bruce style anchor, myself included. I had a 16lb version on my 248, and I have the 22lb version on my current 298. Used in conjuction with proper amounts of chain and rode, it's very trustworthy. I've never blown off of it, even in some pretty brutal storms we've been through.

FWIW, I picked up a Chene as a spare and love it. (Not sure the model but its the biggest one they make) It physically weighs far less, needs very little scope, and holds extremely well. I should mention we are usually anchoring in sand/mud/muck. It is now my primary anchor.
