I haven't spent a dime of my own money. He's paying for the parts to fix his boat that he neglected. I get it working and pay slip = I get to use it. So yes, I'll put time into a nice cruiser to use all summer.

i would trade my easy labor for the boat use.. thats seems fare to me.. i thought you were buying stereo and parts.

It was a mess.

The cabin wasn't that bad. Took the cushions out and cleaned, cleaned random mold growing on the walls. Febreezed the crap out of it. Had to replace some light bulbs. Not trying to make it perfect, just presentable. Looks like homeboy painted the blue stripe with house paint it's not glossy. He agreed it wasn't a good idea years ago and we're going to sand it smooth and vinyl wrap a wideband stripe down the side from the rub rail to the first crease in the hull there, along with updated brand logos.

Doing all the work accomplishes two things. First, easy labor = free boat to use. I'll gladly clean and diagnose easy issues from a neglected boat all day long if that means I have a boat to use this summer other than my ski. The thing is huge and you could sleep two adults in the engine compartment it's not backbreaking work. Second, he gets his boat cleaned and working for the price of beer and pizza. I dunno who's getting a better deal LOL!

After the first stage of cleaning. Much better but still needs more work. The guy driving is the owner and those are two buddies, the dude had a stupid fast speed boat but lost it in divorce a few years ago.

If you're wondering, a close friend owns the boat and didn't use it. He's in his late 30's and single, and it's just too much boat for one person to trailer and he has 3 jet skis and 2 other boats so it just sat. We came to an agreement that if I pay HALF the slip fee ($100 a month) it's mine to use. He's just happy to see it back in action. Needs some work from 4 years in storage but he said just tell him what it needs and he'll go buy it.

So you went from paying half of slip to paying the whole thing?

Plus your friend somehow acquired 5 more jet skis over the last 3 or 4 days.

Sound like a good deal to me. I did something similar a few weeks ago. Biz partner had a friend who had a lovely Porsche in winter storage. Said friend was out of town and wanted it de-winterized. I volunteered to get her going. 1 hour of easy labor (jump start, add air to tires, go to car wash) equaled 3 weeks of "test driving" to make sure it was indeed de-winterized.... 8)

He buys and sells motorcycles, jet skis, boats, cars, etc. It's his job. Every time I ask him what he has he's sold or acquired something new. I really don't care if I'm paying half or full. If I owned a boat I'd be paying it anyways.

ordering some material samples 1.5 oz 42Mil vinyl for the boat.. i already have some samples from one vendor and i think that these may be higher weight and better backing.. trying for the best material and colors. and trying to make a decision on what density foam i want for the rear sundae and rear seat back.. The rest of the foam is fine and will get a good steaming and will fluff up nice. my biggest issue is they do not have the light light gray like i am wanting for the diamond quilting inserts.

well I can now visualize the end result.. It is amazing what a different and new style ski locker hatch can do to the vision of the boat and hell it is not even painted yet...

BEYOND excited to have an all glassed non skid interior that can get wet without wory and cleaned.. TO HELL WITH CARPET THAT IS PERMANENT.

Rented a room out of my townhouse. I'm serious about buying a Vista I want all the money I can get ASAP. When I was a kid in middle school I remember calculating that I could live comfortably off 35k a year. Now I'm making over 70 and I'm freaking broke with all these damn toys and 20yo girls. I need twice that to be comfortable or stop dating 22yo's.

Young woman are just like boats -bottomless pits of cash. When it comes to saving time and money mate, I was given the following advice:

If it flys floats or fu@ks - outsource it - don't buy it

Clearly I did not take that advice, married a long time, own my boat, and always need more cash

YES this to a T.. and for some reason i stayed broke with her. i looked back about 10 years ago and calculated that i was spending an average of $145 a day while with her. lol and i left the relation ship with i think 2-3 concert t-shirts lol. where it all went i have no clue.

Now atlas when i say where is my money i can look at: house couple cars, boats, camper, rental income property, amazing world travel, tools. At least it is tangible things and memories.

Last girl before wife all i can remember is some wild sex, couple concerts that she always got retarded drunk and a lot of money leaving my pocket..
