We'll, quite an adventure with the new boat yesterday. Had a leasurely morning yesterday, went to breakfast, bought groceries, bought a new tube, etc. Had lunch and then went to get the boat from storage. Got to the boat ramp and both batteries are so dead they won't even move trim. Then I notice my truck is leaking coolant. Took truck and boat to the marina parking lot.

Bought two new group 27 dual purpose batteries and a new radiator cap. Installed new batteries and then radiator cap on truck. Then back to the boat ramp. Boat starts and truck is not leaking. Wife gets stuff for sandwiches on way to marina while kids and I drive boat there. Another boat is in the slip we were assigned. Had to wait for them to figure that out. Finally ate on the boat at 8:30.

Hopefully will get to enjoy the boat today!

Here's hoping the weather holds out today! I'm thinking of launching in Port Sheldon today, just not sure if the rain will hold off....

Ric, I would let them examine and have chance to make it right if it was their issue. If no solution you can ask for their insurance company and try to file claim on their business E&O (errors and omission) policy. Many businesses have them and that would get the insurance inspector involved in looking at it too......just saying there may be other remedies outside suit if necessary...

Boring day, might goto the beach. Ski broke, now the boat broke and it's not being fixed anytime soon. The Chaparral was a salty and it's aluminum fuel tank corroded and sprung a leak.

Yesterday while at the marina, found a nice tube someone through out. Took it home, pulled out the inner-tube and found a small leak. Patched it over night, hosed it off and it is good as new. Not like we need a fourth tube but a $150 tube for free, thank you very much!

My speedo has been inop after my cousin refinished the drive this week. He painted over the speedo inlet on the bottom on the drive. Have GPS for speed but I cannot stand a non-working gauge. Going to drill it out and hopefully that will fix it.

Also, went from 22p props to 26p per the owners manual. I would hit 5,0000 RPM with the 22p. With 500lbs of people and 70 gallons of gas I only hit 4600 RPM with the 26p. I am hoping a solo run on light fuel might bump up the RPM range. If not, I will be looking into a set of 24p.

Figured how I am going to mount my Lawrance GPS. I am going with RAM Mounts and a 12V accessory plug.

Take a look on ebay for your RAM mount. I found mine really cheap there.

As previously mentioned, the speedometer inlet on the outdrive was painted over when my cousin refinished my outdrive last week. Today, I was able to sand down the paint, find the inlet, scrape out the filler and clean out the inlet hole with a 5/64 in drill bit. Then I touched up the paint but with the drill bit in place this time so the inlet hole will not be covered. I did not test it because the wind was really picking up and it looked like storms were rolling in. I am pretty confident that will get the speedometer going again.

Good tip but my Ram Mounts already arrived from Amazon. Having Prime makes shopping at Amazon even more addicting. I got the Polk speakers from them as well. They were sold through their "Amazon Warehouse". Sometimes they sell returned items but mine were brand new just had damage to the original packaging/boxes. The speakers were still mint but $10 cheaper per pair. Adds up when you are buying 3 pair...

Every option to fix my ski is going to be $3000+. Crap. Guess I'll just save my pennies all summer

Finally finished prepping for the season this past weekend- weather was not so great so she hasn't hit the water yet.... But at least she's out of "storage" and ready to go!

I thought it was their fault and you'd litigate if need be?

It is their fault, the rod bearings are burnt. I'm just not willing to waste a summer sitting on my ass missing work to goto court when I want to be out in the sun and water.
