Well, I took our dog for a walk this morning in the forest; it was raining hard, warm, humid , just like a rain forest. Found out my high tech waterproof coat isn't. Met Buzz a black labrador that adores me for a reason I don't understand, along with his pet human, Richard. Came across a dog I know with a missing owner ( who runs) ; spent an hour looking for him; turned out the dog had run off. a happy ending.

Then went for a walk with the dog this afternoon; lovely clear sky sunny condition, no coat. Then the remnants of hurricane Bertha blew in from the Atlantic . Soaked again! Still, Archie the spaniel is happy

On the boating side, read up some more on Volvo EVC- C !

tried to go out on Saturday.. but i had no power to the dash. jump box did not work.. after doing some looking i have a ground issue. then i found that the master ground to the engine block was loose and come to find out the wrong bolt.. so a scavenger hunt to find the right bolt.. well Ace closed at 6 and the 4 i bought did not work in the 3 options for available bolt holes.. so i hit a stand still.. and in all the assorted spare bolts i have int he shop NONE were correct. ACE is not open on sundays good thing because we got over 7" of rain on sunday. so today after work i will head to Ace and but 7-12mm metric and standard and assortment of standard thread sizes. One has to fit.

I have power int he batts both banks. i have power to the main barker. power to the main fuse no the fuse panel. all fuses are good. ignition is good. Emergency stop is good. no ground to the dash. YES i went ahead and shocked everything wight eh meter. SO i am hoping that the loose bolt to the main ground is the culprit.

reading about the Comp Cam Marine 252BH for the FORD 302. the RPMs are great for my motor range 800-4800, i am liking the durations.. I have not found the stock cam specs from OMC. I am going to look in my Master tech manual at lunch and see if i can find any part number and do some looking. BUT is know that COMP CAM has improved things int he past 20 years since my stock cam was profiled.

NO i am not going to double my power. that is not the goal.. just to add a little pep in the step. I feel that this will be much easier and more reliable that building one of my 454s and having to do all of that converting and worry about the OD.. do a "FRESHENING" up of the 302 over the winter. HELL once the seat is out i do not even have to pullet he motor to do what i want.. lol.. I will take the time to go thru a lot of things..

That is what i am up to.

I hear ya. I'd love to put a GM Performance camshaft in my 5.0, along with a proper intake manifold and carb. Thousand bucks and I can get 80 more HP. Why not!

I have a ford. not a GM .. I've been looking at the costs to put an efi 5.3 gm in. or a stroker in a 5.3. or just do roller cam in the 5.0... i honestly like the smoothness and economy that i am getting out of the EFI.. but it is added complexity compared to a carb setup.. I can get a 5.3 for $300 at the yard and go thru it for next to nothing. the main thoughts to stick with what i have is (IT WORKS) just needs some more torque.. and finding a cost effective solution is weighing multiple options.. i do not want to fully build a stroker and go to a carb setup as i have a kid coming.. I change my damn mind on the motor every other day..

At moment i need it running for the party and friends this weekend

Well with your Ford 302, just slap in a roller cam setup that should do wonders for it

Yep, Sac Delta is the Sacramento & San Joaquin river delta, east of San Francisco. We seem to end up doing a lot of our playing near the tastily named Bacon Island. I haven't seen any sign of bacon there, though :( .

I agree i feel that a Modern 20 year updated cam profile for the torque department not the "drag racing High HP profile. would breath lots of good life into the motor. I really want to figure out a way to allow the motor to breath better. it is very restrictive intake as it is. Guess it is time to call my mustang buddies and raid their attics and shelves for cobra parts and anything good they have around lol.

Hell yesterday my neighbor told me if i buy a bone stock '12+ wrangler 4d he will give me all of the stock 2015 rubicon suspension, rock guards, wheels tires for free otherwise he is scrapping them... He is building a long travel trail rig on 37s.. yes out of a brand new special order Rubicon.

He is a ford guy but all he has is the new generation 302 boss stuff that does me no good :( sad times

I'm pretty sure you can get a mustang supercharger kit for like $500 these days on the used market. As long as you have the room in the engine bay, it should be plug and play for ya.

my biggest issue is the clearance between the manifold riser and the TB.. it is about 2" and thats where the Filter is.. I will take a pic for you tonight when i am installing new ground bolt.. the other option is a newer sting roots charger.. i could do a Centrifugal lower left front under the Alternator and as i plan to convert to Serpentine belts with Idler pulley to ditch the PITA Vbelts. being i need the Serp pulleys i may as well grab a set of under driven ones for $60 and free up 10hp while i am at it.. but i am not a fan of the centrifugal chargers i prefer a Roots charger. i am still looking for an affordable intake manifold and SC. that would be the easiest power.. the other issue with SC is the tuning of the marine computer.. ill need to do some tuning.. but for now ill take it one step at a time.. BELTS then cam, the belt issue is more to make me retain sanity as i freaking hate squealing belts. Makes me feel like something is about to explode lol

Impatiently waiting on time to go get the proper fuel sending unit and the ONE fitting I need to install both my oil pressure switch for fuel pump and oil pressure sender/sensor.
Then I can finally put fuel tank access deck piece back in place, put doghouse back in boat and continue with my engine break in period.
So far, the first two hours of idling in gear are done....phew! That was miserable. Very temping. I could tell this boat will fly.

It has almost the same HP as my 25' Wellcraft offshore fishing boat but it weighs 3 times less :)
