It's nutzo here. I was on the road a lot today and drove through a few blizzards. We maybe hit a high of 30 for the first day of spring. On this day last year it was 75. I splashed on March 31st last year. No hope in hell this year.

Anyone know the whereabouts of "one" Mother Nature?

Right now we have at least 20" of snow on the level with many drifts well over 48"...probably some over 72". Not sure what the official total snowfall is for this year so far. An average winter is 120". I think we've had more than that so far.

No predicted temps over 40F for the next 10+ days.

There is about 12-20" of ice on the river currently. The ice breakers have been working in Whitefish Bay and the Upper St. Mary's the last couple of days. I'm guessing they will be heading down river next week. But with lows in the teens for the next several nights they will be at it a while. Ships have tried to start running on the lower lakes but are getting stuck in ice in the Straits and near Sturgeon Bay.

All of my equipment is snowed in and looks like it will be for a few more weeks at least. Customers from the "south" (Ohio) are already calling talking about getting their boats out. Right now I doubt I'll be moving any boats until early-mid May.

The good news, I love winter and I'm way behind on getting my winter projects done.

Dear Lord, you should be on a snowmobiling forum!

Yes winter in the Great Lakes area is hanging on this year.We certainly could use the snow/rain to help with our low water levels, but I do want to start the prepping of our boat for spring launch come the first weekend of April. So warmer temperatures would be appreciated.

Mike.

Well I can't complain as we only got one storm this year but it was a doozy with hundreds of people stranded on the Long Island Expressway and many other roads. Its too cold to do bottom painting but I am doing some projects so when it gets warm I can get it in a bit earlier this year.
And when I retire, it will NOT be in NY that is for sure. We may keep the house up here but there is a small spot in a warm climate near salt water in my future ;)

Same here. I would like to at least get started on some interior spring cleaning, but with high temps barely reaching 40 its just not going to happen. I may have use a heater just to get some stuff done. :?

It may be a really cold launch day the first weekend in April.

I'm not complaining too much about the snow/rain. I'll give up having an early season to have the lake levels come back up some.

Amen to that. My ramp/dock was down to almost 2 feet (!) last fall.

A friend measured the water depth in my boat well last weekend. I stern in, so where my drives are I have 36" of water (as of March 24th) and furthest away from the seawall in my well he measured 40". Drives down I require 39". Drives up 28".

I'm really hoping the normal cycle of water level increase between now and the end of June gives us another 10" of water or so before the seasonal normal lake level starts to decrease in July and continues lowering until end of boating season.

I may need to bow my Vista in mid season and may need to pull her out earlier than I typically do if our lake levels don't raise enough. :(

Any of you other guy's have water depth problems in your wells this year?

Mike.
