Great to see another lake shelbyville boater here. We just bought a house in Sullivan over the winter.

What marina are you in?

Maybe we will see you on the water

Lake Shelbyville's been here all along. You moved closer to the lake!

Seems like the good weather will never get here. We splashed a couple of weeks ago in the rain but didn't make it to the lake last weekend due to all the rain. Plan to be there this weekend and spend at least one night on the hook even if it's in the rain.

What he said! As to Shelbyville, we've been on the water every weekend since the first weekend in April, although, it hasn't been great weather wise.. We got so tired of being in the slip last weekend, we put the camper up, and went for a nice slow cruise in the rain.. Had the lake pretty much to ourselves. lol

Heck you were boating in snow flurries then :-) I like the cruises in the rain with the lake to yourself! It'll warm up and the crazies will be back all too soon. I was hoping the lake would clear a little but with the recent rain I see there is heavy flow into the lake again peaking about 9 ft over summer pool. That leaves the upper end pretty nasty in some of the coves depending on wind direction.

So what do you guys do in the rain? Do you still go swimming? Can you BBQ in the rain? Or do you just drop anchor and watch the rain fall?

Air and Water temperature dependent on the swimming, but yes to all the above.. Put the camper up and/or go to the cabin, and we can stay dry pretty much no matter what it does. Any day on the boat (rain or shine), is better than sitting at home watching it do the same.. 8) Not to mention, with my slip fees and what not, I'm spending at least $200+ a weekend, whether I'm there or not, so, I'd rather be there.. :D

The 2013 boating season here on Allatoona Lake has been off to a wet start. Last weekend was a wash out and it raised the water level to where no one could get to their boats this weekend. Thankfully, the electricity and water were still on at the dock so we decided to go for it.

Water levels got to 8' above full pool but not nearly as high as in 2009 when the lake crested at 13' above full pool.

We had to wade through chest high water to get to the dock but then relied on our paddle boat to get back and forth.

We took a cruise around the club cove to check things out.

Since the charcoal park grill was under water, I had to resort to the electric smoker for dinner one night. Next weekend will be in the 80's and hopefully back to normal boating conditions.

That's exactly the way we look at it, as well. We have already spent the money, we will get our use out of it, rain or shine...

Play cards and drink heavily...  We have actually gotten a lot of use out of our small crock pot with all the chilly, wet weather...it's nice to have some easy comfort food when it's cold and nasty out. But everything's better when you are on the water!

Put it on the mooring this past Friday. Just waiting for some warmer weather.

It suppose to go below freezing tonight, but it's looking pretty good for the weekend.
