I have a different motor than you do, but mine came with the same prop that you have, 14 1/2 x 19 3 bladed aluminum. I switched to a 4 bladed 14 3/8 x 18 SS Apollo XHS prop and couldn't be more happier. My boat is rated for 11 and its not uncommon to have 7-8 people and pulling tubes and boards....the 4 bladed prop handles this much better than the 3. One other advantage to a 4 bladed prop is it is smoother due to being more balanced than a 3 bladed prop.

You need one of these too. I'm chomping at the bit to find a way to justify one. I'm getting closer.

Oh I've got the plans, they're all over the net. But I haven't seen a shop-built one yet that's as nice as KMG's.

Ok, I hope you all don't mind me chiming in on the propeller discussion, but I have a question/comment.

I have a H200, 5.0, 220 hp with the standard alum. 14.25 X 21 p prop. I am very pleased with the overall performance. I don't really have any complaints when pulling skiers or towables and cruising. Wakeboarding is when I get a little frustrated. I can't stay on plan at slow enough speeds. I don't really care about throwing a huge wake, I just want to stay on plane below 20 mph. I know my boat isn't designed for wakeboarding, but I'm not interested in getting a wakeboard boat when it only makes up small % of time.

I was thinking a change to a 4 blade prop might help. I stopped in a local marine shop and asked the parts guys his opinion and he basically said what I have is going to be the best option; that my boat isn't made to wakeboard and changing a prop isn't going to help.

Is this correct? Kvou812, you mentioned you couldn't be happier with moving to a 4b. Can you stay on plane at slower speeds?

I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks, Eddie

I have the Horizon RS 180, with a 5.7GL (heavy!) & going to a 4 blade made a massive difference to plane speed.
The 4 blade Solas Amita 14 X 21 seems to have much less bow lift than the 3 blade & requires much less effort to get on plane! 8)

We use a 4-blade 19p and are very happy with it.
It will do what you want it to do.
The parts guy is mistaken.

I would go with the 4 blade for sure, I used a 4 blade 14 inch 19 pitch on my 98 sundowner 205 with a 5.0 gl 220 hp. It was the best match after trying 6 different combos

OP- Jdpber, my apologies for high jacking your thread for a min. I'm like you and thinking the 4b is the way to go. I'm going to give one a try and hang on to my current one as a spare.

Thanks again to all the replies.

Yes.... to answer your question, I can stay on plane at a lower speed with the 4-bladed prop :)
