Insurance covers the phone if it gets sunk or obliterated. Nice features to have on the Samsung, just in case. But I can't see me needing anything more than the LG Optimus G I have. It is too damn big, but I have gotten use to pulling a wagon behind me to take the phone most of the places I go.

Most insurance (unless you somehow get it covered under a home/business policy) does NOT cover loss.. So if you can't bring it in (i.e. its at the bottom of the lake, or it was stolen), then you're pretty much S.O.L... Verizon's insurance they provide, does not cover loss, and is a complete rip off too, the third party iPhone insurance we got for my wifes phone, covers pretty much everything but loss.. So, if it's full of water, I can still get it replaced, but if I can't bring it in, or send it off, we're SOL..

Sorry about your lackluster insurance coverage. Sounds like typical Verizon. My carrier covers total replacement of the phone. Does'nt matter if it's at the bottom of the lake or not. With a new phone costing over $500.00, the cost of insurance is worth it to me.

What carrier are you using?

I have a iPhone 5 with life proof and i love it.. it is only 7/16" thick so it is not bulky like a Otter box or many of the cases out there... this actually has a true Oring seal in channels to make the seals.. screw in water tight headphone connect for in the boat.. i can grab it and not worry one bit about destroying the phone soaking wet. and also use it in the rain.. can take pictures under water.. its the answer to any active life..

personally i do not want anything larger if i need larger i have an iPad.. there is a point when phone is too dam big and many the tablet phones on the market and galaxey are too darn bug for pockets comfortably..
