yes the used market in 10-15 will be golden i keep telling the wife this.. that once future said kids are a bit older we will be getting something of similar setup.. presently cant justify the money.. let it depreciate on someone elses wallet and then ill take it a more fair reasonable price..

Cap'n - Your last post (that you removed) was a good post. Your links showing the boats of the 2003 era that would be considered "cross overs" as per this thread was interesting to look at. I came back to thread to view your last link and your posting was gone?

When you remove your posting I sometimes question whether I actually remebered who posted what.

Your postings I'm sure would be welcomed by the majority.

Mike.

Sorry Mike, bad habit of mine (among many)

Here you go...

Older "crossover boats" can be had for under $45K if you did not want to wait for one of these newer ones
to depreciate from $250K down to an "affordable" level. Couple of examples:

2002 Monterey 298SS

2005 Ebbtide 2600

Both of these are very fast, and seaworthy hulls, and what I would call affordable for this type boat

i like the ebbtide.. nice little setup.... at the moment with no kids what i have works..and i have access to nice sleepers that i dont have to pay for to stay on when i desire.. once kids happen a sleeper will happen.. i wouldn't mind like a 30-35 sea ray sun dancer like my buddy has.. lots of cabin space.. his has twin turbo Cummins in it (he swapped them in) and he runs mid 40s..its about perfect.. you can water ski behind a 34' cabin cruiser.. its sweet.. but a beotcccch to trailer as it is 9' beam

Thanks Cap'n.

I can see the appeal of the "cross over" type boat for a couple that enjoys entertaining and using their boat for more of a day boating style and still have a decent cuddy to enjoy overnighting in.

As a side note - I have always enjoyed your informative postings.

Mike.

That is exactly what they are intended for. Not for families that want to spend a week at a time on it. Many people that buy these, boat with friends and family during the day, and put it on a lift at there lake house at night. They are big enough that you can bring a large crew out for the day, and everybody has a place to sit. The little cabin is good for an overnight stay at a marina for two, or for a kid or two to take a nap during the day on the water.

And don't rule out the venerable old Four Winns H310. It's been around awhile, not a big seller, but is a similar boat to these.

Sorry to ask, but who is the builder? I could not make it out from the pics. Looks like a pretty sweet setup.

Cruisers Yachts (Sport Series). The 328 is one of the nicest, well thought out boats like this I have ever seen. @270K, it's not possible for me, but would not hesitate buying one if I had the $'s laying around.
Here is a Boattest article about the boat.
