Late 90s. They basically went to automotive style harnesses straight out of a car. Weather-tight connectors throughout. No blade style fuses, all push button reset. All wiring wrapped in plastic covering to not get any rub damage, and all connectors placed behind accessible locations. All boats wired using the same harness for their model, so if you purchased a base model and wanted to add on an optional feature, the boat is pre-wired and ready for it's install electrically with the harness plugs in place.

'96 Signature 24. Wiring was exactly like the '02 Vista currently in our garage. Well, not exactly... it was worse in many areas. Other than that, the Vista, even of the '96 vintage, was a far better craft than the Signature.

The signature line of Chaparrals have not changed since the 90's styling wise. Horrid layouts. Embarrassing really.

The Vista was repaired with $200 worth of connectors, and I have quite a few left over. If I wanted to go on the cheap, solder and heat shrink are very inexpensive.
It would cost a bit more than $200 to make the rest of the Chaparral of a quality that we have found with the Four Winns.

I think I'd go with the second option, getting rid of the vent graphics. You might also want to play around with a picture of the boat in the water to see how all that blue might look. Sitting on a trailer is somewhat deceiving IMO.
