I call the marina to put mine away every Monday, and take it out Friday.

October here too. My fav part of the boating season. Jacket, maybe a blanket for the admiral, Sam Adams Octoberfest, cigars, football on the radio. NOOO traffic on the water except for the fall sailors....ahhhh.

Never, it's on the lift in the back yard any time I want to us it.
Sorry Northern folks it's been 25 years since I had to deal with that depressing time of year.

I've always wondered....how do the southern folks know when to perform maintenance? People who winterize usually take that time to do all kinds of cleanup and maintenance. We have pre-season and post-season checklists....do you have all year checklists? :D

Yea, we usually try to make it as far into October as possible. This year, we'll be pulling her out on Sunday, the weekend of October 17th. Hopefully be cleaned up, winterized, and put to bed by the first week in November. And yes, what a depressing thread, as if I wasn't already in enough of a funk over the pending end of season... :?

Sorry for the depressing thread. I was just curious and I am envious of you guys that can boat all year. Here outside St. Louis, we don't get that luxury. I was thinking that I would try to make it until late October if possible. I have a lake lot at Lake Lou Yaeger in Litchfield, IL and would really like to do some camping and work on it while the weather is nice. The only thing that I got done on it this summer is building a dock and mowing the grass. I would also really like to take a trip to Lake Shelbyville and maybe a ride on the River from Alton to Grafton before I put it away.

Oil change every spring and fall. Plugs/wires/cap/belt/fuel filter when it needs it. Impeller every couple years (alpha 1). Boats that run all the time, like how I use mine at least 2-3 weekends a month, work a lot better and last a lot longer than one's that sit.

Little off topic, but do you deal with Hanks in Raymond? Love that place, they take good care of me... And, if ever on Shelbyville, let me know, that's home base for myself and Flyer51 and maybe a couple of others..

I'm waiting for a new throttle cable ( damn OMC ) so I can put mine back in and then will take it out mid October after leaf peeping season is done. May have it for sale in the spring if I can find the right fast pontoon.

We also will be lifted out for the end of season around the Canadian Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend (Oct. 11 -13).

Weekend before reserved for engine oil changes, generator oil change, fuel filters etc.

Still get to play around with some boating and Muskie fishing with our little 14' Aluminum boat for about 1 month after the bigger boat is put away for the season.

Mike.

I just put mine away because I will be out of town for the next 2 weekends. Our lake level is dropping (seasonally done my TVA) and I do not want to be high and dry. If there is still water/depth when I return from Nantucket, I will out it back in...

In general I would take it out near Oct 1. We would love for TVA to stop dropping the level so early... The good news is that I just bought a waverunner which we can use much longer due to it's low draft.

Awesome! My neck of the woods! Enjoy! We are planning on doing a fishing trip out there in October. It's a 26 mile open run from here. Best time of year to go IMHO.
