I second the Cumberland trip. Also, in the Tennessee and Kentucky areas are Norris and Dale Hollow. Those are all on the bucket list for me. Just as Cap'n said, tons of coves, deep enough to not see other humans for weeks on end.

I also vote Lake Cumberland. Incredible scenery (especially 76 Falls!!), quite a few marinas scattered around - very different scene than LOTO, though. It's a Corps lake, so there's not really any development aside from the marinas - the ones we stopped at had restaurants, but that was it. Bring whatever alcohol you might want - most of the surrounding area is dry (Somerset is wet - you can get pretty much anything there, but we were based at Jamestown while we were there and you couldn't find a drop anywhere...). We were there on a fairly slow weekend, but Harmon Creek party cove can be pretty crazy.

To me, anything above 75 is very good to swim. The air temp just needs to be above that to go along with it. Our water here, just dipped below that to 72F. Now with the air temps staying right at that, it makes for a chilly swim. I guess it just depends on what you are used to. When I went to Torch, it was painful at first to get in 70* water but we wanted to so bad that we just dealt with it :lol:
