I wish. He keeps a Crownline deckboat called "Finally Got'er Done" at his slip. For the 5 days we'll be up there at the end of July I'll have to slip arround the bend at the "what's up doc" just on the other side of the Kimberling City Bridge, so I can't even keep my boat in their cove unless I just want to float it overnight. I don't know which scares me more leaving my boat at a slip a mile away that I can't see or floating it in the cove with an anchor off the bow and stern line tied to the shore.

WUD is where we slip. It's a great dock, well built and well maintained. And run by good people. I recommend it wholeheartedly. It makes the POS over at Indian Point look like a - well, a POS. They also have 2 or 3 security guards roaming all over that area all night long, and they DO check out anything they aren't sure of. I've been stopped and questioned a couple of times just because I was down there checking on the boat late at night. Also, access to the dock itself is via a locked gate which they give you the combination to when you arrive. Note that you need to make reservations EARLY - like months ahead of time.

As an aside, Missouri Water Patrol's boats are based at the next dock over from WUD. They've got some awesome boats at TR and if you happen to be there over a holiday weekend you'll see they've got a big presence there.

I'm not sure if you saw my last edit on my previous post, about ramps. In addition to that, there's a wonderfully wide ramp in the Port of Kimberling area, right around the point from WUD. Unfortunately, it's also the steepest ramp I've ever seen. We launched there one year, and all 4 tires on my truck were skidding down the ramp. Very scary, and loading there is not even a consideration as far as we're concerned.

Thanks Mike that makes me feel much better. I won't need access to the doc accept from the water side. I'll be launching from the community ramp in the cove that my buddy's lakehouse is at. The slip will just be a place for the boat overnight. I'm familiar with Missouri Water Patrol's finest. I actually got a ticket from the water police out there years ago, pre 2000. It was a very stormy day (mid- week) and it had just finished downpouring, another friend of mine and myself decide to hop on a couple of jetski's and screw arround in the cove. I guess somebody living in the cove (we have our suspicions on who) didn't like it and called them on us, because there was no one out on the main lake or the cove, but us, I mean no one and just to be clear, we were way outside of any no wake zones, etc. So here comes this scarab flying into the cove lights flashing, etc. She reads us the riot act, makes us do our 123's and abc's, tells us she could make our lives miserable and then writes us each a ticket for following each other to close. No big deal, but at the time it was quite a downer.

I wouldn't see why not. Far as I know it's a public ramp, it's just not easy to find unless you know how to get to it. If you know where Joe Bald road is off HWY 13, it's back in there. If your serious about wanting to use it, I'll ask my buddy what he thinks and try to get you turn, by turn directions, if he thinks it's ok.

I'd appreciated that very much! I wonder if it's the one we used last year. It's in the Joe Bald public use area, but way back in there, several miles off of 13. It appears to be a ramp area that's no longer maintained by the state or whoever; it seems to be in a general state of neglect. The ramp itself is good, but right out on a main channel where there's no protection from winds, wakes, etc. I was hoping his might be a little closer/better than that.

Mike - Don't think it's the same ramp your talking about. This ramp is not in the best of shape, but it's not that bad either, part of it was re-blacktopped in the last couple of years. It runs right next to the Wells property. If I remember right they have a sign in their front yard with their last name on it (Wells). It's about halfway between the front and back of the cove. It's on the side of the cove opposite the Bittersweet property, but closer to the main lake. It's a public ramp, so if you know where that is you can use it. If you need directions let me know.

If it's not a lot of trouble to get directions, I'd love to know. I drove all around back in there one evening looking for other ramps, and didn't see any. Whatever you're able to do would be greatly appreciated!
