Robbo, I beg to differ! If you are in realtively calm water , you don't need them, and if you are in rough water, they are not sturdy enough, not to mention, they take up a ton of room! Having to inflate and deinflate each time is a royal PIA, so why bother. Txjole said it best when he said, "What's wrong with real fenders?"

However, having said that, if anyone is interested, I have 2 of them you can have for the cost of shipping!

I agree Giaccamo, I made the beginner's mistake last year in purchasing fenders that were too small. I upgraded over the winter to 5.5" TaylorMade's and think these will work out better. I was just saying that if he happened to try them, to let us know the result.

They also make the fender boots that may serve the same purpose.

I have a Geoffery the Giraffe printed one up in my rafters somewhere and yes, they are a pain to inflate/deflate.

Some use them as bouys for PWC race practce or Sunfish sailing lessons. As others have said, supporting even a 140 lb kid bouncing around is one thing, but being the only thing keeping two 4500+ boats apart is another. I know!, try pogo sticks! :P
