We chase the crowds. We know what lake is good on what holiday and we travel. Been doing it for years. Wait for the 4th.

Finally drop the boat in this weekend, first outing of the year. Boat ran great no problems. I find that beer always tastes better on a boat!!! Weather was ok a little windy here in NH. My 7 year old nephew was the first and only one in the water, he wakeboarded & kneeboarded on saturday. To be young and have a wetsuite. I was going to go, but once i stuck my anckles in the water that was it for me, can you say shrinkage!!
Memorial day may be over, but the season has just started. I can't wait for the weekend to be back on the boat, it's going to be a tough 4 days!

Hey 230 Mike !!! When I started this thread i thought to myself "Bet 230 Mike doesn't get his boat wet" and low and behold..... I was right!!!! I should have bet my wife for some sexual favours or something  Do you ever get that boat of yours wet? You know the gel coat won't wear off with a few hours of riding around  Are you sure that's your boat in your signature? :?

Mike I'm just kidding but you reallllly need to use that boat more. The sun is good for all things that old guys suffer from! And what could really be wrong with your trailer since you just overhauled it last year or the year before?

Go Boating!!!

Boat Buckles, the never ending project.

We're in that phase of life when there's constant kid stuff/issues going on. Two kids who want to be on the boat but a third who wants nothing to do with it, but can't always be left behind, etc. It's always interesting.

Honestly, I don't worry much about not boating on the big holiday weekend. Drunks and noise don't interest me much :) .

It was nice to get out. Water temp was only 64 so we stayed in the boat.

I now truly appreciate my new boat. In my little cuddy, 5 people were cramped, crowded, and just didn't have a good time. On my new 260, we all had a place to lounge, a cup holder for our drink of choice, and enough space to store stuff. We anchored in a cove for little over an hour and had some snacks (watermelon was tasty!) and enjoyed having 5 of us relaxed.

Depending on how accurate my fuel gauge is, it looks like a full trip up and down the reservoir with some high speed running is going to cost me about 40 bucks. If I pull a tube or do more exploring it will go up, but our normal cruise route will not be that expensive.

Put the boat in. Finished the new camp shower caught some fish off the dock snuggled with the wife.

Even after almost losing the boat off the trailer after hitting a bump and issues with my VDO Instrument panel (discussed in other threads), I really enjoyed my first true weekend on the lake. We spent the weekend on Pickwick Lake (Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama). Water was great. We spent Saturday hosting my son's friend from school, his mom and two other siblings (their dad is serving in Afghanistan) and we all had a great time mostly tubing. Spent Sunday and a short time on Monday (before a storm blew up) with just the four of us. It was peaceful, but probably rare as we plan on having another family with us most of the time.

Happy boating!

Sorry, didn't mean to scare you off.

There weren't as many peep's at Lake O as usual. I did have the neigbors ooggling over my new toy. I was ready to make up a placard like you see in car museums, and charge $7 for each to veiw it; $10 to sit in it; $100 to hear the engine growl. All parties seemed very impressed with my latest aquisition... especially the night lighting. It definately turned heads where ever I went this weekend.

I only made a few rookie mistakes. Which is sad... I've been a boat owner for over 10 years now! I acrued the following this weekend.....
1) Ladder left down while underway :?
2) Bumpers (Fenders) left out while underway
3) Ski flag left up while underway without anyone skiing
4) Tube rope not attached to boat while attempting to pull tube

I did witness a newbie owner slam into the dock at the restaurant. He hit it pretty hard, then backed up, and hit it even harder..... he backed up a third time and hit it once more. Finally convinced he could not get his brand new ~20' Sea Ray on the dock, he simply tied up in the slip next to mine. At which point I remotely activated my car alarm/panic flashers causing even more confusion. That alone was worth the $90 for the remote set-up!

I love the holidays!

Walt that was hilarious!

I would have loved to watch the guy on the tube griting his teeth in anticipation of the rope yanking him off, only to see the boat head out in the distance.

We had some decent weather up in Wisconsin. 70's Saturday and 80's Saturday and Sunday, the rain kept mostly to evening hours. I pulled the boat out of storage, and tore it apart getting a good start on the upgrades I've been meaning to do since last October. Did at least 12 hours of yard work too. Didn't get the boat in the water, but did cruise around on the pontoon a bit. I'm ready for another long weekend already.

I hope everyone had a pleasant and safe Memorial Day. We have had a stiff 20-25 knot wind blowing across our marina in Mystic CT for 3 straight weeks making docking seriously stressful. The wind dissipated on Sunday just long enough for us to take a long shake down cruise and unfortunately we encountered several issues with our new boat. The first being the inability to get on plane; we called the dealer and they suspect the wrong prop was delivered. With three adults we had no problem add a fourth and three children and all bets are off. When we moved the kids into the cabin we obtained plane and had a working solution. The depth gage was erratic, the shallow water alarm was going off then would show a 100 or so feet under the keel. All this while we were in a well marked 20’ deep channel. We then anchored for lunch, fired up the barbeque and enjoyed some quite time on the water. I must say we were getting bounced around pretty good but the anchor held and we never drifted, not even once; however, once it was time to pull it up the fun began. We fired up the boat and started to retract the anchor line using the windless. We were able to retract about 10’ feet of line then the circuit breaker tripped. After resetting it we tried again; this time the windless never made a noise or even moved but the GPS low voltage alarm went off. As I pushed the button to retract the anchor the voltage would drop, 11.2, 10, 9... 8 volts. Needless to say I became experienced in using the handle to manually pull up the anchor. For those of you who have never done this you are fortunate! My back is still sore!! My first thought was that the alternator was not working but after testing it, it appears to be working correctly.
Fortunately we have a great dealer and they have been working with me all day and will be sending a technician down to the marina to make the necessary repairs this week.
