Wow. To hail with that. I'll gladly take the 118 degree heat of the California desert. Are people ever killed in those hail storms? It has to be dropping at or near terminal velocity....no?

You bet it could kill people and has. This time everybody managed to keep safe. Kansas has a pretty good warning system for Severe Thunderstorms and most residents know to get the hell out of there cars. With that said I think the death toll is up to 5 in the State from Tornado's and every one of them was in a vehicle.

Tornado's are actually quite fun to watch and chase if your properly trained and know where to be. I'm an ex police officer and storm chaser but with the little guy you have seen in my posts I don't mess with any of it anymore.

Oh the other tell tale sign this was bad hail is the fact that serious damage was done to the interior of many cars. So the hail was falling hard enough to break safety glass and still have enough velocity to crack the dash or tear the fabric. Boats regardless of the covers don't stand a chance, this stuff will put a hole straight through the hull if it hits right.

Oh, we get that too  .

And Needles' heat
And Minot's cold
And Houston's humidity
And southern California's wind

Woo hoo

I heard an economist on Fox just now talking about this, and he was of the opinion that this won't really have an effect on local gas prices. I'll believe that tomorrow morning when I pass the stations.

Heh, back in high school I got beaned pretty good by a lacrosse ball sized gob of hail. Knocked me right over, and left me dazed for a few minutes. I've seen some put holes clear through a windshield. That and put a nasty spider-web bullseye in fiberglass. But I've never heard of anyone getting killed solely by getting hit by hail.

...and the NWS is predicting another Tornado outbreak tommorrow. Please.... they can't predict rain during a thunder storm; they definately cannot predict tornado's in advance!

Well bring em on. I have one rule. Don't damage the boat, house or cars without totalling them completely. Wipe everything I own out with one nice little Tornado and I'm insured well enough you will be helping me pick out my new 230.

Well things just got worse. This same area was the center of 14 tornadoes last night to include Kansas State where 2 thousand kids were at camps.

All reports say the kids are fine but we do have 2 confirmed fatalities in the area.

I'm there now, your thoughts and prayers for these folks are appreciated.

My thoughts and prayers are definately with you guys. I hope everyone makes it through things alright. We do get the odd small tornado up here, but it is rare.

Is there some flooding going on around your area as well?

Let's hope for the best. And that everyone is o.k. down there.

We'ver already had 3 tornadoes in the last 3 weeks here in the Winnipeg area. And it isn't even warm yet...
