crap, I had just typed up this great response. It's a rough Friday.

The G&R deal looks like a head-turner. I wonder what other options the boat has? generator/flexteak/etc? Those are big $$ items that had some great re-sale-ability.

My situation was more of a "if you don't take this opportunity, you are dumb". I had to consider the trade in, new boat, transport of the new boat, etc.

My deal was definitely competitive in the bigger scheme of things.

So, I just did some slight investigation on that 318 at G&R... it is a great boat...

5.0 GXI's with the Ocean drives
Deck Sunpads
Navigation package (Radar, c80)
Cockpit cover in addition to canvas package
flexiteek platform
stainless windshield header
Cockpit flatscreen
Flagpole holder (this thing is SWEET)
Rod holders
Cockpit pillows
wood cockpit table

There are some big options in that package. However, it does not have the generator which is an 11k plus option.

This boat retails out right around 220k from 2008 prices. So, at 140k - you are getting what - just about a 38% discount!

Wow.

Looks like a decent price on that '08 248 also. To bad it has a 5.0 in it...

I am surprised that the 318 at G&R doesnt have a genny. Bryan usually loads his boat with almost everything. Super nice guy. Very helpful, even if you never bought from him.

That 318 will scoot just fine with those 5.0s in it.

I actually think the GXI motors and ocean series drives are a nifty setup.

I wouldn't have gotten the 5.7s had I had a choice. But, I am glad I ended up with the 5.7s - especially the new EVC stuff on board (which was supposedly new for 2009).

I hear great things about G&R and wouldn't hesitate on that 318 - even at 140k. What I saw didn't show a generator - but I could always be wrong. He is priced to move though - especially if they threw in bottom paint, fenders, ropes, and the dang shore power splitter!

Transport is the biggiest issue... to get that thing across the country for me would have been 7500.

Nice boat...

JSimon - there ya go! Even has the fold-down arch!

Wow.

The bigger the boat and another year of rescission makes the bargains even better on the surface! Last May I got a 25% discount and the 6 year warranty on my 220SS. Apparently they were giving out lots of good deals because the went belly up by Oct. Kind of makes you think, if they are giving away most of their profit it makes sense that they can't continue to operate at the same level if at all. Best of luck to you and your dealer.

Sadly I will be holding off on upgrading for now. I really do love the 318. It has just about everything that we need. Too bad I am in the auto business and lets just say, its pretty slow right now.

Im in the car business too....I know what you mean!

Im kinda in the same boat... small business owner and just alittle.... ok alot skittish on the "economy". If I would stop watching the news I might be better off. I dont want to be a 2 boat owner. Seems like the older I get (44) the less risk I am willing to take. I mean hell beck in 01 we were a 2 house owner for 11 months.......

Looks like I will be a 268 owner for another year. Not that we dont love the boat... we do, but a 318...... would be perfect for us.

So for now Cougar Ill just look at pics of yours.......

I just went to our local (Kansas City) sports/boat show yeasterday. It was about 1/3 the size of previous shows. The pickin's were slim to say the least. Only one real dealer bothered to show, and they aren't even local. Basically, if you didn't want to look at a Cobalt, you didn't get to look at all!

The Seattle boat show is coming up at the end of January - and it appears to be smaller than in years past. This is totally to be expected.

I just wonder what sort of presence Four Winns will have. Historically, this show was one of the largest west of the Mississippi.

I know Cobalt, Regal, Sea Ray, and Bayliner will have a presence. Who knows about everything else???

That's why we didn't go; we saw something on the news last week about the fact that it was going to be a very small show (big surprise there). The real question is, did they drop the price of admission to 1/3? :)
