Just bought the twins each professional-level musical instruments to the tune of around $5K. I think that'll do it for Valentine's Day for this year. :|

Where are you planning to head for dinner??? Downtown or heading to the suburbs??? Interesting the boat show is this weekend, I might have to force the wife down...

Hey Nolv4v8

Not sure exactly, but it will be downtown. I wanted to stay at MGM, but 300.00 bucks for a night.... Decieded to do the Marriot instead at half that. So we will see what the dining is like there, do you have a suggestion?

Jeff -

I lived downtown for 4 years until recently when I moved to Royal Oak. Two of my favorite places to eat downtown are Vicentes and Union Street.

Vicente's - which is Cuban Food, fairly pricey, but the tresleche cake(spellcheck) is amazing. I recommend doing the Tapas for dinner, and order 5-8 different things.

Also for a more reasonable budget, Union Street - which is american food, awesome and unique pastas and just good food. I highly recommend their calamari, which next to Jack's in St.Clair Shores is the best in town IMO.

As recommended above Andiamo's Riverfront is excellent as well, I would make a reservation now if you plan on going, and plan to dress a bit nicer than you would for any of the above. But their filet mingnon with their famous Zip sauce is by far the best on the menu. Worth every penny. If you are staying in the Marriott this is in the RenCen as well, making it an easy commute.

Hope this helps, if you need any other thoughts let me know!

Well I was kinda disappointed with the FW showing at the show. The only FW cruiser on the floor was a '09 338. I was hopping to spend a little time on a 318, but no such luck. Sea Ray (Colony Marine) had 9-10 cruisers and 3 Meridian aft cabins. Formula and Chaperal had a better cruiser presence than FW. Not sure whats up with that. The dealer in Detroit is Skipper Buds, so maybe that had somthing to do with it. If you were in the runabout market, they had alot of them.

For dinner we ended up at Andiamo's by sheer luck. I didnt make a reservation like was suggested and was told they were all booked  . We called and were told we could eat at the bar, which hey beggers cant be choosers at that point, when we went down there, we asked if there were any cancellations, and the hostess looked and sat us at great table in the back, wow... lucked out. I did end up with the filet and she with the sea bass. One of the best dinners I ever had!! Thanks for the tip guys.
