Exactly what I was thinking. I like it! 8)

You've got me thinking something like this on my add-on swimplatform and maybe another on the built-in platform for a prep table? And i might add a third plug-in in the bow so that prep table could also be used up there (adjustable height pedestal?). I also need to get or build the tables for the cockpit and the bow.

If I was ever to cook on a grill on board, this is the only way I would do it. Never liked the rail mount or rod holder mount methods.

We have a WINNER....I think that is just what I want!
Also, The SL262 has a seat on the platform for the chef and the sunpad could suffice as a prep table!

Update this thread on what you order and where. I am interested too but I'am not so sure I like the idea of cutting the swim platform mat.

Tennja,
after a season with that swim platform mat, and you look at how much black scum, grime/dirt is under it, you won't mind cutting a 2-3/8" hole in it. The mat's are nice, but they do accumulate grime underneath them, but you won't see it unless you take it off at least.

On the 262 the mat is permanently fixed to the platform (I assume it is glued down). Anyway, I am not concerned about the small hole. Here is a link for the marine solaire grill I want to buy...this seems to be the best delivered price:

Capn,

The mat came with the boat. I doubt I would have ordered it. Thanks for the heads up though. Just what I needed another thing to worry about keeping clean.

SLman,
I have a grill, although that looks nice. I am more interested in the mounting hardware and installation. I'll let you be the guinea pig.

A mat is nice to have. I take it off frequenly and clean up so my platform stays clean.... If we put a grill there I would wary grease splash more.. What do you think?

The solaire infrared grill does not splash grease like normal grills...most everything that drips is vaporized instantly due to the heat.

slman -

I would be very interested in that grill.

If there are a few people that are serious about buying a new grill - and they are willing to pony up for this quality of a grill - I wonder if we can get a 'group buy' discount on multiple of them?

I wouldn't mind a 10-15% discount of that $400+ pricetag if we combine buying power.

hhmmmm

Only problem is that the regular retail is $599...so $420 is a pretty good deal!

Does anyone have experience with this model grill??? The Solaire Infrared Marine SS???

Here is a review...keep in mind this is 316 Stainless...far better than 304 Stainless

I've used the pedestal system for the last 2 years. I went to a local RV dealer and bought a good quality stainless steel table pedestal kit. Drilled the hole  in the swim platform, sealed the heck out of it and bolted it down. I also drilled a 1/4" hole in the bottom for drainage. Next was the upper mount. Purchased a piece of aluminum plate from a metal supplier and cut / drilled and installed it using small spacers to fit the bottom of my grill. The spacers eliminate heat transfer. Then I attached the upper socket from the kit and presto.... pedestal mount grill.
Its such a low profile that I've never had a tripping problem. The deck socket looks identical to the picture in "millhaven's" post.

LOL Capn ;)

So now this has turned into 4 I-beams welded into a square with a 1/2" steel plate welded onto them? We talking grills or homemade battleship anchors?

Maybe it's just me. I can't brain today, I got the dumb.
