Thanks everyone for the responses. I love the wave and forecast sites. Looks like something we may try someday. I agree on having an EPIRB on board for the trip. Much better to be safe than sorry.

So did you ever make the trip across? I would love to try myself. However, along with the float plans, redunant electronics, and etc, I wouldn't do it without another "buddy" boat along. I'm hoping to get a couple of boats together this summer to make a run across. I have sailed across several times (crewed on a race boat) and sure would love to get there in about 3 hours vs. 12+.

Nope. With the new baby we never got onto the big lake. Spent most of the time at the Hardy Dam. Maybe next year.
